Alright, kids, confession time. I have been feeling incredibly sorry for myself recently.
Oddly enough, it was another person validating all I have been going through this year, telling me I’m not getting all worked up over nothing, that I have had it incredibly rough that snapped me out of my funk. This person was trying to help me, they said sometimes we all feel sorry for ourselves, we can’t help it.
This is absolutely true. And I have been dealing with — let’s just keep things short and say a whole lot of crap Continue reading
That’s how many days are left in the year 2014. We’ve gone through 106 so far, which is a whole lot, but it isn’t the whole lot. It isn’t even one-third of the year!
Why this sudden obsession with the days? I’m so glad that you asked!
In my continuing capacity as your Official Blog For Mental Health conduit and project coordinator, I seem to be getting a lot of questions, comments, and concerns, and most all of them having the same basic theme:
Am I too late to participate in Blog For Mental Health 2014? What’s the deadline for submitting posts?
(If you’ve already pledged or aren’t so interested in BFMH, please do keep reading just the same. I need your help, all of you wonderful Canvas readers, and more details will be forthcoming momentarily.) Continue reading
Hello to all you amazing Canvas readers! Remember me? Maybe? Just a little? Clearly it has been a long time since I showed my lovely face around these parts. Some of that has been life, part of it has been Blog For Mental Health 2014, but most of it. . . Well, here goes.
The last post I wrote for Canvas, well, I started composing it at the end of 2013, moved on to actually writing it into March 2014, read and re-read the 1,800 words I had managed to knock it down to, and after all that I finally shelved it. You see, as some of you know, I was incredibly ill from September 2013 well into January 2014. Continue reading

Coming in to the launch of Blog For Mental Health 2014, I thought I was prepared. I’d made some important changes to the way the campaign was set up, and I was sure those changes would remove any confusion, making this year both more inclusive and easier for me to stage.
As it turns out, I was right. I was also utterly unprepared for the response Blog For Mental Health 2014 has generated. As of this writing, we already have more than 60 confirmed pledges, and that number grows daily. That may not stagger you, but in the whole of last year’s campaign, we received a sum total of 116 pledges. In 11 days, Blog For Mental Health 2014 has received more than half of the total for pledge posts in the entire 2013 campaign! Continue reading

Are you as excited as I am? I don’t think anyone could be, but please humor me and try to give a good imitation. 😉 Continue reading
Okay, lovely ladies and goodly gentlemen — and all the rest of you rabble as well 😉 — I honestly had no intention of writing a second Blog For Mental Health 2014 “pre-post”. Thing is, the official post was hovering somewhere around an elephant of 1,500 words, and they were all pretty necessary. So I’m sending this one out with some background, both on what Blog For Mental Health is (for those who were not with us last year), and the reasoning behind the changes that have been made for 2014 (for those of you who were). Continue reading
It’s official, loves. 2013 is over, 2014 is here. We’ve all survived one more trip around the sun on this wild, spinning ball we call a planet. It was a rough year for many of us, but it was a great year for a lot of us, too. Whether you feel you had the former or the latter (or maybe a bit of each), you should be very proud of yourself, because you did make it through, and that’s not always as easy an accomplishment as one might think.
In any case, I’m proud of you, and I’m grateful for you, too. Continue reading
